I like and respect astrology very much. It has been around longer than written history. In my opinion, it is/should be the perfect meld of science and philosophy/mysticism. I must admit that until lately, my knowledge of astrology was limited to the average newspaper horoscope, which often times is so broad it is useless or inaccurate for most people. Then I learned about the natal chart. As well as the signs other than the Sun sign such as the rising sign, moon sign, etc. I admit that I have a lot more to learn when it comes to astrology, as there is a lot of terminology that I must integrate into my vocabulary. However, to do this, I feel I must first understand the foundational concepts, this is a problem right now, because I cannot understand why, the zodiac is fixed as equal degrees of arc. Isn't astrology supposed to be a study of the relationship of the celestial bodies in space and how they correlate to the happenings on earth and the people? Do the constellations (being the background consisting of multiple celestial bodies) count? Shouldn't we be concerned with which constellation the planets (astrological definition incl. sun and moon), etc. are really in? If we are only concerned with what arc of Earth the planets, etc. are in then why is the zodiac named after the constellations?
Wow it has been far to long since my last visit to this site. I have been extremely busy. School work, home life, and everything else just devoured my time. After eight weeks of work intesive classes and people that drove me nuts that I had to work with, I now have some time for me again. Let me say that I am utterly greatful for meditation, if not for it I might have not made it through the last few weeks without taking off someones head. LOL Now I have had some time to work on more personal topics and have decided to study astrology. I will be blogging my thoughts on the subject as I learn the indepth details of astrology. This should be interesting as I am already bulking the system and I am just begining.

I have wanted to meet and talk to other pagans in my area everysince I left the group of friends I had in nuke school that were pagan. I am part of the Ohio Pagans Group on Yahoo and see all of these great opportunities to meet other pagans, but I am not sure what is expected. Obviously, I want to just be me, unfortunately me is a little to chatty when I first meet people. I get all nervous and start rambling. Plus, with this I am not sure if there is any protocal or anything. My other goal for this year is to get over my insecurities, suck it up, and go to a meeting. I have attended some workshops in the past at local shops, but I had gotten to know the shop owner first which made it easier. Well that is enough rambling.

Now that this is a new year I want to start taking time every day for something spiritual. All my work has me stressed out. And on top of that i realized that I can't find my meditation rug, since we moved. Grrr. This is something I have been slacking on lately and need to fix. The problem is I don't know what to do. It has to be at night before I go to sleep because that is the only time when I can be alone, but by that time I am so worn out that it is hard to do anything. (*bad me , no excuses*) For those of you that are reading this that have managed to make time every or nearly every day, how do you do it? If you don't mind sharing, what do you do? I need a little insperation.

A while back, I was having a hard time deciding which pantheon or patron deities to choose, so I decided to use a guided meditation I had found to help me see which deities I had a connection with. I was expecting a connection with Celtic deities since most of my ancestry lies there, however that was not the case. Instead, I connected with Freya and Odin. This came as a shock as it was a pantheon I new of but had given little attention too. Now I am not the type that meets a deity in a meditation and immediatly dedicates myself to them, so for the last few months I have been learning about the Norse pantheon and mythology/lore. A couple weeks ago, I got the urge to go to a local shop, there was something I needed but wasn't sure what. I don't know about any of you, but when I get this feeling I almost always find something to point me in the direction I need to go, but I don't know the item till I put my hands on it, hince shopping in the store and not online. This time was no different. This day I found a book, The Rites of Odin by Ed Fitch, to be exact. I just finished Dec. 20 and found that there was a lot in it that I liked, a lot in it that already describes what I do(probably why I like it right), and so now I am looking into Asatru. So if anyone who reads this has any advice or suggestions to help me in this new twist of my path please speak up. I welcome the advice.
